Consular Registration Information

Registration of children who are citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic and  have been adopted by citizens of the USA/Canada or permanent residents of the USA/Canada.

In accordance with Kyrgyz Republic law, within 30 days after arrival in the USA/Canada an adopted child must be registered with the Consular Division of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the USA and Canada.  In order to register their child, the parents must submit the following documents to the Embassy's Consular Division:

  1. a cover letter from the adoption agency addressed to the Consular Division of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the USA and Canada;
  2. a registration form;
  3. the child's original passport;
  4. a standard passport size color photograph of the child; 
  5. a notarized copy of the court's adoption decree;
  6. a notarized copy of the adoption certificate;
  7. a notarized copy of the child's birth certificate in his/her former name;
  8. a notarized copy of the child's birth certificate in his/her new name;
  9. notarized copies of the parents' passports (separately);
  10. a money order for $50.00 made out to the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the USA and Canada;
  11. a prepaid FedEx return envelope with FedEx account number.

Note: The Consular Division of the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the USA and Canada is not responsible for the delivery or handling of postal correspondence from individuals requesting consular registration of an adopted child from the Embassy's Consular Division.
